Associate professor of the Department of Ecology and Zoology, Center of Biological Sciences, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, where coordinates the Laboratory of Human Ecology and Ethnobotany. Ecologist (graduated in Ecology, Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" UNESP/Rio Claro , 1992), master in Ecology (Institute of Biology, Universidade de São Paulo , 1997); doctor in Ecology (Institute of Biology, Universidade Estadual de Campinas , 2001), partially developed in ACT (Anthropological Center will be Training and Research on Global Environmental Change, Indiana University). She had scholarship grants from FAPESP during the specialization, master and doctoral researches, having worked with use of resources by fishing populations of the coast of São Paulo, including ethnobotany studies and studies on dietary habits of caiçaras. She had a post-doctoral scholarship (FAPESP) in the Laboratório de Ecologia e Restauração Florestal (LERF), Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz" (ESALQ/USP) , between 2001 and 2002, developing studies on ethnobotany. Her research areas are human ecology, ethnobotany and ethnoecology, focusing in artisanal fishers. In last the 4 years she received financial support for research projects from FAPESC, FUNPESQUISA (UFSC) and Fundação O Boticário para a Conservação da Natureza.
